In Tarkio’s own backyard, Missoula, Montana, Shawn caught our attention with his smooth paddling style and humble demeanor, a combination rarely seen in paddlers his age at that time. Since then, he’s been paddling explorations have led him all over the Northwest, California, and South America. A former head Instructor for Surf Montana kayak school, Shawn’s enthusiasm to become a world-class educator has rewarded him, and his students, with a wealth of knowledge and teaching skill over a relatively short period. Students appreciate his patient and caring instructional style, while getting a dose of the big picture approach to kayaking.
