This particular trip allows one to see many different aspects of Bhutan. The 4 day/3 night trek is diverse with
beautiful scenery, amazing views of the snow-capped Eastern Himalayan peaks, a high-altitude monastery and some high-altitude lakes.
Pho Chhu River: An easy Class II warm up section of river that has a classic finish
as you float past the spectacular Punakha Dechenphodrang Dzong.
Mo Chhu River: A beautiful Class III/IV run.
Puna Tsang Chhu River: 20 km of Class IV whitewater.
The days that you’re not trekking or rafting/kayaking are spent sightseeing and learning about Bhutanese culture, lifestyle and the Buddhist Dharma.
Day 1: Arrive in Paro (Bhutan) from Bangkok and check in to the hotel. Afternoon hike to Taktsang and evening in Paro.
Day 2: Spend the day sightseeing around Paro Valley. Interested kayakers kayak the Paro/Wang Chhu evening in Paro.
Day 3: Start trek. Paro - Jele Dzong: Start trek above the Museum and gradually climb up to Jele Dzong. Overnight at camp. 5 hrs, Alt: 2590m
Day 4: Jele Dzong - Jangetsho: The trail takes you through thick alpine forest and rhododendron trees with beautiful views of mountains. Campsite near Jangetsho lake. Camp site at the height of 3350m. 7 hrs, Alt: 3350m
Day 5: Jangetsho - Phajoding: The trail continues with a gradual climb. If weather permits, beautiful views of Mt. Gangkhar Phunsum can be seen. Campsite near the monastery. Overnight at camp. 7 hrs, Alt: 3116m
Day 6: Phajoding - Thimpu Sightseeing: The trek to Thimpu is down hill through blue pine forest. Evening of leisure, overnight at the hotel in Thimpu. 3 hrs
Day 7: Thimpu - Punakha: Morning drive across the Dochula Pass (Alt: 3050m) where one can see the beautiful views of the Eastern Himalayan Range. Lunch at put-in of the lower Pho Chhu. After lunch raft/kayak the lower Pho. Night at camp.
Day 8: Raft/kayak the Mo Chhu. After lunch sightseeing. Visit the Punakha Dzong and those interested may do a short hike to the Khamsum Yulley Monastery. Night at hotel/lodge in Punakha.
Day 9: Early morning drive to the put-in of the Puna Tsang Chhu. Raft/kayak the Puna Tsang Chhu. Night at camp near the Pun Tsang Chhu.
Day 10: If people would like, raft/kayak the section of the Puna Tsang Chhu again before heading out back to Thimphu or we can drive back to Thimphu after breakfast.
Day 11: Sightseeing around the Thimphu Valley and souvenir shopping. Late afternoon drive back to Paro. Farewell dinner and evening in Paro.
Day 12: Departure: flight from Paro (Bhutan) to Bangkok.
